The Ins and Outs of Doggy Daycare redtagcrazy.com blog

Doggy Daycare is a new and fascinating concept and is becoming very common in urban and suburban areas throughout the United States.     The veterinary hospital where I work has a doggy daycare associated with it and over the last 3 years I have had the opportunity to see just what it is like behind the scenes.

The intent of doggy daycare is to provide a supervised environment where  dogs can play off leash with other dogs.    Just like child daycare centers, doggy daycare is great for busy dog parents who want their dog to exercise and play while they are gone.    While the dog parents are gone the doggy daycare staff is responsible for providing a safe environment and making sure all of the dogs play nicely together.

I will admit it – I initially thought doggy daycare was a silly idea.   Why not just leave your dog at home to sleep / lounge / bark at the mailman?     But there really are many benefits for a dog going to daycare.   Dogs in daycare learn how to play well with other dogs and increase their social skills.   They also use up a large amount of energy so instead of coming home from tired from work to find a hyper dog who has been alone all day you get to pick up a dog tired from a good day of play.    Finally, dog daycare may alleviate some behavioral problems, cheap mac makeup, especially those related to lack of exercise and stimulation such as barking, chewing and digging.     Lastly doggy daycare allows owners the peace of mind that their pup is being well cared for and well exercised during the day, wholesale mac makeup, eliminating any guilt for leaving the dog alone all day.

If you are interested in taking your dog to daycare, it is important to interview the staff as well as the daycare staff to interview you.    It is important that the staff gets a good understanding of your dog and how they will fit into the “play pack”.   A good daycare should have employees that not only love dogs but understands canine behavior and body language.   Although dogs are screened  to play well together, play can get out of hand and turn into a fight and the staff should monitor for changes in body language to intervene before a fight erupts.   I also recommend a daycare that has a strict medical policy regarding up to date vaccination, mac makeup, stool testing for parasites and flea and tick prevention.

Finally it is important to know what to expect when your dog goes to daycare.   I think that the expectations are very similar to children in daycare.    There are dogs that just don’t play well with others, are shy or have behavioral problems and might be better off with a dog walker or other care situation.   But for those dogs that do well in groups you can expect them to pull you in the door on their way to go play.   You can expect the staff to love your dog as much as you do.   Unfortunately, you can also expect  some bumps and bruises – even the occasional bite (just like my kid’s daycare – where occasionally the other children bite them!).   Dogs can pick up respiratory viruses from each other as well as parasites and develop diarrhea.   These problems are just part of the price of mixing and mingling with other dogs and can happen at dog parks, on walks, etc.   However – if you ever get the feeling that the health and safety of your dog is not being properly addressed – talk to the staff or investigate alternatives.

Happy health and playing!

All About Ed Hardy & Christian Audigier redtagcrazy.com blog

What do Paris Hilton, Madonna, and Britney Spears have in common besides being in the lime light for recent scandals or stints in rehab? They all LOVE Ed Hardy gear.

Paris is often photographed in her trucker hat while Madonna wears Ed Hardy caps and t-shirts almost daily, mac makeup wholesale, and Britney Spears was recently filmed raiding the designer’s massive California warehouse. A favorite of celebs (and promoted endlessly on the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency),cheap mac makeup, the t-shirts are cool, in a sort of just-got-off-your-Harley-while-driving-down-Sunset Blvd sort of way. You can find people of all ages wearing this high-quality, high-fashion label.

Ed Hardy, also known as Don Ed Hardy, is one of the most well-respected tattoo artists in the world. Born in 1945 in Southern California, his destiny seemed clear when, at the age of 10, he opened a makeshift tattoo shop in mother’s house where he drew tattoos on the neighborhood kids. In the 1960s, Hardy attended the San Francisco Arts Institute and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in printmaking. He then declined a scholarship to Yale’s MFA program in order to pursue tattooing full-time in 1967.

After returning from Japan where he studied with the master Horihide, in 1973 he opened Realistic Tattoo Studio in San Francisco. This was  the first known private, appointment-only tattoo studio in the US, where he focused on large-scale,mac makeup, custom Japanese style tattoos. This style of shop, and the artistic style that Hardy imported to the US from his frequent travels in Japan, changed the face of modern tattooing.

Most recently, Hardy collaborated with the brainchild, Christian Audigier, by lending his name to a tattoo-inspired clothing line. Audigier, who had previously designed lines for brands such as Urban Outfitters, Diesel and Von Dutch, saw a great opportunity in Hardy’s work. He approached Hardy in 2004 with an idea for a clothing line based around his art and tattoo work. Hardy granted Audigier a license to use his work, and Ed Hardy clothing was born.

Ed Hardy is not limited to t-shirts. belts, leather, briefs, socks, and shoes. As we have seen here on RTC, they also have bags.  Ed hardy bags are often available in forms of purses, handbags, totes and organizers all created by the godfather of tattooing. Ed hardy bags have quickly become more popular among the society today and has skyrocketed to be the biggest seller of Modern Art bags. Known worldwide for dramatic images, you will be the envy of all your friends when you buy and Ed hardy bag.

This brand epitomises everything that is super trendy and super cool. Massive in America, the Ed Hardy fashion has become a global phenomenon.

* Another great thing about making purchases from RTC is that you are assured that your items are not imitations. If you make purchases outside of the RTC website watch out for fakes because they are everywhere.

Missy’s Simple Southern Breakfasts redtagcrazy.com blog

There are many good things in the world but one of my favorites is a good ole’ southern breakfast. I am heading south to visit family and thought I would give you a sneak peak at what we would be eating J and the recipes to try it yourself. (if you have never had grits, you need to try them)

To some southerners grits stands for Girls Raised In The South. Pretty funny huh?

Southern Breakfast Casserole- This is my favorite breakfast recipe. I look forward to Christmas because my mom  makes this every year. I made this for my in-laws and my Mother-in-Law asked me for the recipe. I was excited because she is an amazing cook. You make this one the night before and all you have to do is wake up and slide it in the oven.

1 lb pork sausage

1 lb of bacon cooked

10 pieces of white bread, with the crust off and cubed (6 cups)

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

6 large eggs

2 cups milk

1 teaspoon salt

**** I have never added the dry mustard or worcestshire but the recipe says to

1 teaspoon dry mustard

1/4 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

Brown sausage and bacon ; drain well. Make sure it is crumbled up

Place bread cubes evenly in baking dish

Top the bread with cheese, sausage, and bacon

Whisk together eggs and next four ingredients; pour evenly over sausage mixture. Cover and refrigerate casserole overnight. Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes.

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until set. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Lazy Days Southern Grit Cups – This was my favorite everyday breakfast.

2 cups cooked grits

1 stick butter(1/2 to be used to scramble eggs in)

4 eggs, scrambled(fluffy: add 1/3 cup of milk and scramble with 1/2 of the butter)

salt and pepper to taste

1 cup or more shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup of one or more of the following cooked meats (bacon(crispy), sausage, or ham)

12,mac makeup, 16,wholesale mac makeup, or 20 oz Hot and cold type disposable cups

Cook grits by using package directions but substitute 1/2 the water for milk or cream. (this makes them softer and not so gritty)

Beat or whisk eggs with milk.

Season with salt and pepper and scramble(fluffy not dry) in butter

Stir remaining butter into hot grits and season with salt and pepper.

Divide grits evenly and place in 4 (12, 16, or 20 oz. cups)Hot and cold cups work best!

Spoon eggs evenly over each cup of grits

Top each cup with meat choice

Top with cheese

Keep warm until ready to serve or refrigerate and heat in microwave(if refrigerating, I have found that I needed to make grits thinner by adding more milk or water)

**** for the recipes above you can add diced tomatoes and grilled onions and bell pepper to make Texmex style or salsa and pepperjack cheese for Mexican style, also green onions can be added. For a seafood version, saute shrimp or crawfish tails and green onions in butter, add a dash of Creole seasoning and you have a creole version! The possibilities are unlimited!
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST

Southern biscuits and sawmill gravy

3 cups milk

6 tablespoons all-purpose flour

salt and pepper, mac makeup wholesale, to taste

8 ounces breakfast sausage, regular or spicy

2 3/4 cups biscuit mix

3/4 cup milk

Whisk together the 3 cups milk, flour, and salt and pepper, until flour is dissolved. Pour into a skillet. Simmer, stirring constantly, for 15 minutes. Brown sausage in separate skillet, stirring and breaking up until cooked through; drain. Stir sausage into gravy.

Mix biscuit mix with remaining 3/4 cup milk in bowl until soft dough forms. Drop by spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 450° for 10 minutes, or until nicely browned. Ladle hot sausage gravy over split biscuits.

Enough for 10 servings.

Gwen Stefani – Celeb Fashion redtagcrazy.com blog

In honor of her current tour with reunited band members of No Doubt, I decided to take a look at the many sides of style that is Gwen Stefani. I have always loved her ability to take risks with fashion and her outstanding ability to be as versatile (and sometimes as colorful) as a chameleon.

Wowza! Going back to the days of trucker hats and cutoff wife-beater tops, there is No Doubt (no pun intended) that Gwen has always had a unique sense of style. Her men’s briefs and dark makeup are accompanied by bold colors and bindi jewelry showing that she is here to rock, mac makeup wholesale!

Moving on through the Return of Saturn and Rock Steady albums, No Doubt not only changed their sound but Gwen once again changed her looks. Starting with electric pink locks and braces with a more soft look, Gwen seems to show more of a feminine side. Adding in a rasta touch with classic ska wear items, she perfected a look of funk mixed with flare.

And as time goes on and we watch Gwen mature into the amazing mother and wife that she has become, her style continues to mature as well. She is able to carry herself with pizzazz in everything she wears. Oozing glamour in couture gowns and sending off sensual vibes in classy clothes with a great body, Gwen has come full circle in the fashion world. Although her styles have changed some, she will never lose her sense of self and that is the best accessory you can have.

From punk rock, to glam rock, to just downright hollywood, this girl can do it all… and look damn good doing it! Rock on, chick, mac makeup!

Before I wrap this series up, I got a few requests on blog topics.  Now, while these aren’t slimming ideas, they are still ways to flatter your figure.  There are three types of bodies:  Longer torso w/shorter legs, balance of both or shorter torso/long legs.  Here’s what to wear for all of those types:

Read the RedTagCrazy Interview! redtagcrazy.com blog

Now, for the long-awaited interview with your founders and admins, Melissa and Eric (aka SuperAdmin… or Cameron Diaz, right Missshop?)!

1.  What made you two decide to start RedTagCrazy.com?

We took notice of the “One-Deal-At-a-Time” concept in April of 2008. As pioneered by other sites, we thought this was the coolest way to shop, ever. And then something caught our attention… where’s all the women’s fashion? Isn’t women’s apparel, mac makeup wholesale, like, the biggest online market in the world? Duh. We were shocked to find out that no one had done this for women yet. It was one of those “if you build it, they will come” moments. So, armed with a Starbucks Doubleshot and a few Diet Cokes, Eric built the first design concept overnight.

8 months later, we built it, and you came.

2.  What has been the biggest challenge for you two to overcome during the past two and a half months?

Overcoming this economic collapse. Our company is completely self-funded, which means everything we sell was bought the hard way, with hard work, and loans with interest. What if we buy something that doesn’t sell? It’s our loss. Not the loss of a billionaire investor, but the loss of a family with 2 kids. There is no pot of gold here, but rather a small group of savvy young people taking a risk on an idea.

We’re glad we took that risk!

3.  How are you actually making money by selling everything so cheap?

Oh crap. I knew we forgot about something.

The truth is, our margins are razor thin on most items, and barely covers the cost of operating redtagcrazy.com. As we grow, our buying power will allow us to command deeper discounts and we’ll be able to increase margins without raising prices. At least, that’s the plan.

4.  What makes this whole company worthwhile for you?

Watching this turn from idea to company, and then to blossom like it has in such a short time, is extremely rewarding. We believe in what we’re doing, and just the fact that there are thousands of women here every day, confirms that we must be on the right track. Think about it, we get paid to build fun software (which we love), sell fantastic fashion (which we love more), and have a sense of humor all at the same time. There is nothing we’d rather be doing!

5.  How did you make the jump from a wedding blog (TrulyWeddingBlog.com) to a ODAT sale site?

We started our wedding business, partly because we had a really fun wedding, and partly because we knew we could make it work. It wasn’t a big risk, or maybe it was and we just didn’t realize it. Either way, it was less than completely satisfying. You meet a customer once, and unless they have a string of unfortunate relationship disasters, you’ll never meet them again. We wanted a business in which we could get to know our customers well, and have a chance to earn their business through hard work and great service. Call it a leap of faith, but we felt we’d be better suited for the fashion world where such an opportunity existed. And here we are.

6.  Melissa, how has being pregnant during the initial stages of RTC been great, and how has it been challenging?

Well, it’s been fun! I’ll start it off with that…LOL. It’s definitely been a challenge, but luckily I wasn’t pregnant until the site was built. Getting it up and running was the hard part, so that was a lot of long nights sitting down watching Eric program his little heart out! But as soon as it was up and we *thought* the hard part was somewhat over, was when we decided we wanted another little one running around, and to be honest, why wait?!?! But for being in the middle of a tremendously fast growing business while pregnant, has made the time FLY BY! I know that with just a couple more blinks of an eye,mac makeup, I will be holding our third child in my arms…  I can’t wait!!!

7.  What is each of your favorite products currently being sold on RTC?

Eric’s favorite is the LinQ Long Sleeve Polo in Red, because it looks amazing on Melissa.
Melissa’s favorite product, would have to be almost everything! Except for a few *random* items that were a little unexpected and I didn’t personally pick out. I hand pick all the items on the site, and to see everyone love them as much as I do, makes it the most rewarding (favorite item I’ve bought though, would have to be the LinQ long sleeve Polo in Red because Eric thinks it looks amazing )…Oh..and it still fits over my prego belly!

8.  Is there some little secret hint you can give us for what products or contests might be coming next?

It’s probably not much of a secret now, but we’re working on an ALL-DAY-DENIM event, date TBA.

Contests? We’re building our own contest *system* that will allow us to come up with all kinds of ideas for giving out redtagcash. Write a story about… Post a picture of… Post a video of… you get the idea! All contests will begin and end on a certain day of the week, and you will have the entire week to convince as many people as possible to vote for you. If you’re the only chick to enter, you win!

9.  What is your favorite pair of high-end denim to wear? (Come on, guys… it’s me! What did you expect?!?)
This is going to sound pretty interesting, but to be completely honest; I’ve never owned a pair of high end denim (neither has Eric)! The first pair I’ve bought was from RTC, the Lucky Brand Jeans Marcie Sedona…LOVE THEM!! We are being introduced to the greatness of designer denim, cheap mac makeup, right along with a lot of you ladies Eric wants me to go buy a pair of maternity high end denim, but to be honest, I’m a penny pincher (kinda have to be with 2 business’ and 2 kids) so for something that I may wear like 15 times in 6 months and then to sit in my closet…NO THANKS! I am going to buy myself a pair of those ADORABLE Strawberry Ice R&S’s and use those as my goal jeans for after the baby  is born

Thanks!

Live Healthier How Do You Take Your Water redtagcrazy.com blog

In April of 2008, the National Institutes of Health “suggested” that hard plastic made with an ingredient named bisphenol A (BPA), found in baby and reusable bottles, may pose serious health risks.  Some retailers like Wal-mart and Toys-R-Us immediately announced plans to pull products from shelves (and some others since then have followed suit).

As you all know if you have been reading my (and Cayla’s) blogs… drinking water is good!!  But, water with chemicals…not so good.

Now, a year later, the FDA  “continues to review the concerns” and “does not recommend that anyone discontinue use of products using BPA” while they “continue their risk assessment”.  However, I would venture to suggest a discontinue of use is… uuh, wholesale mac makeup, necessary!  So, here is what you need to know.

What is Bisphenol A (BPA)?

Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical used in a wide range of products like bike helmets, CDs, and cell phones, as well as containers designed to hold baby formulas and water.  Many are marked on the bottom with the following recycling codes:  the number 7 in side a triangle, or the letters PC.  An epoxy using BPA is also used in the lining of canned foods.

Health Risks

A 2004 Centers for Disease Control study found traces of BPA – which can leach from containers, into food and beverages – in the urine of 93% of 2,500 people tested.  Whether it is harmful to humans has not been proven.  But, studies in animals suggest that BPA mimics the female hormone estrogen and can cause breast and prostate cancer, thyroid disease, early puberty in females and decreased sperm counts in males.  According to doctors at NIH’s National Toxicology Program  there is enough there that they cannot dismiss the possibility there might be similar effects in humans.

In addition, the Center for Health, mac makeup wholesale, Environment and Justice warns that BPA tends to leach into food and liquid faster with higher temperatures.  (Not the best news for Moms heating bottles of formula).

Because or their developing organs, fetuses, infants and children could be most affected by low level exposure to BPA. The NIH, at present, believes that for adults there is only a “negligible concern”.  (and, that makes me feel soooo much better!).

How to Avoid Exposure

Thankfully, many plastic producers have begun making hard plastic products “BPA FREE” and advertising it on the label (Camelbak , for one).  However, you may have products at home that you need to check.  When I first read about this I went through our supply and threw out over half of our water bottles!

Most bottles (unless they are really old), are marked on the bottom with a recycling code.  Codes 1,mac makeup, 2, and 5 denote BPA-free hard plastics and thus are considered non-toxic.  Glass bottles are safe, as are stainless steel or aluminum water bottles.

Hard plastics containing BPA will be marked with a 7 in a triangle or the letters PC.

Also, if you find the number 3 in the triangle, it contains PVC and should also be avoided.

For Moms buying baby food, try to purchase baby food in glass jars in order to avoid canned foods that may be using BPA in the lining; thus, avoiding the possibility of the chemical leaching from the lining into the food.

The Center for Health, Environment and Justice suggests that if you have hard plastics containing BPA you “avoid heating in the microwave” to minimize the chemical leaching effect.

But seriously, don’t you think the trash can sounds like a much better idea!!

Happy (and healthy)  Drinking!
